oooo....I love dressing my little Logi up! However, finding a costume for her seems to be a bit difficult - because of me! I like to dress her up in something that actually relates to her, rather than just something I got at the store. Last year she was Elmo because that was the only thing she seemed semi "into." So....for a long time, Logan is into all of the Eric Carle books, so we had a Brown Bear birthday party, and for Halloween, she was the cutest "Very Hungry Caterpillar" I have ever seen!

Without getting mushy gushy...here is my girl at 2 and a half...

There is something ironic about this picture...let me explain...

A little over a month ago, you decided that sleeping was overrated. At first, it was o so cute when you would come to get me in the middle of the night, hovering so cutely over me....I would walk you back to your bed and go back to mine.....rinse and repeat.

After a few nights of playing the game...I decided it really wasn't all that cute anymore and thought I would put a stop to it. Ha. You are very determined and pretty much relentless when it comes to getting what you want - and at all hours of the night....this tired mommy didn't have it in her to fight anymore. So now....you have shown me who is boss and I have taken up residency in your bed after the second visit to my room in the middle of the night. You enjoy a bed partner huh?

*assuming this is a phase...hopefully we will resume normal sleeping habits in a few weeks!*

I believe you are up to 23lbs - whoohoo!! You only get your height measured officially at well visits, and we don't go back until you turn 3 (did I just say 3??). When I unoffically measured you, you were about 33inches tall....tiny little thing.

You are a pretty good eater. You have days/weeks where you eat everything in sight and can't get enough and other days seem like I cannot get you to eat one bite. When you are finished with your meal, you push you plate away and exclaim (usually very loud) that you are done :-)

You love to play in your kitchen - that is probably your favorite toy right now. You can whip up some brownies and eggs (usually in that order) like nobody's business. I personally love the combo and especially love it when you mix in a little panticake (pancake) for me.

You love to play with Pluto (playdoh). You can create a great hotdog and your are becoming an expert on using the pluto scissors.

You can identify a circle, line and a star and on occasion - a triangle and a square.

You also can draw circles and lines and have recently starting lining up your cheerios :-)

You still have a "color block." My child who can memorize anything, cannot grasp her colors :-)

She usually gets orange correct, and sometimes blue, but only on occasion. It will come!

Speaking of memorizing...you know the word to over 45 songs. Some songs are kid songs but most are old fashioned hymes. Your favorite is Amazing Grace and you sing it like a rockstar - all 4 verses!

T.V. really isn't your thing. The only show you show ANY interest in is Barney. I happen to like Barney! I think it is very educational and you LOVE all of the songs. You will watch a few minutes of it -and then its done!

I have been letting Logan have some "craft" time everyday, and the more familiar she becomes with the items, the more she likes them!! A few days ago, we made this little apple and she was so thrilled :-)

After we completed the apple, I let her just play and do whatever she wanted. So she tore some paper and glued it randomly - then she asked me for a paper towel. I gave her the paper towel and just watched her - she picked up every piece of paper and "cleaned" it - haha! She wiped all the glue off and set it aside and said, "it's clean." She is such a stinker :-)

Our little neighbor was the mastermind behind our neighborhood bike party :-) He is six and very creative! He created an obstacle course in which all the neighborhood kids to ride their bikes around! Logan loves all the neighbors and was so excited about the party :-) There are a lot pf pictures, so hang in there!! After the bike ride, the kids got ice cream cones - ooo, what fun!

There was a dinosaue obstacle course :-) The kids had to go around the dino's :-)

One of Logan's favorite things to do is to have her nails "done." She has been going to the nail salon for quite some time and loves to have them painted! Recently, I let her start getting her fingernails painted as well (except for Mr. Thumbkins), and she picks the color! Who cares if it is bright orange, shes two :-) This time she (thankfully) picked pink!

We used to go to the park all the time, but this summer it has seriously been SOO hot that if the outdoor activity did not include some type of water - we didn't do it! However, this morning I opened the door and it was nice and cool out so we met some friends at the park and ended up staying 2 hours!!!

Just a few things about my girl....

shes beautiful..

even though I never thought possible, I love her more each day.

Enough with the mushy though...

Yep, she still loves her thumb (Mr. Thumbkins) and is a total ham.

She is really into "writing" these days, but prefers a pen and a book. A book that does not need little pen marks on it is her favorite. She has an entire notebook full of blank paper just for her; but nope, she prefers my calender :-) Crayons are not really her thing, but she is getting more into markers. And scissors...Oh My - I really sense a little hair snipping before long. She always says, "only cut paper?" And today she says, "only cut paper? Not my fingernails?" Um...no, please do not cut your fingernails with scissors sweetie, or anything else on your body.

This girl is completely potty trained!! WhooHoo - no more diapers!!! She has been daytime potty trained since about 22 months, but just in the past few weeks has she started to wake up dry, so I figured it was time. And so far, no accidents!! Go Logan!

Her little (big) personality just keeps coming, and I am soo happy with that! She comes up with something new everyday. Her latest thing is hysterical (we think - haha)! Anytime you ask her something, she responds politely with, "Um, yes I do." Me: "Logan, do you need to use the potty?" "Um, no I do not." Logan, do you want cookies, "um, yes I do." haha - she says it so serious too, and about 500 times a day I hear either "yes I do," or "no I do not." What a hoot :-)

With all of the back to school stuff going on....Logan of course had to have new back to school items :-) I think she has quite a few new packs of markers, crayons and paint! We got out the new paint today and she had a great time! She wanted to do finger and foot prints and then she wrote her name, and drew circles! After she was "done" with that, mom asked if I had ever let her paint with pudding...nope! So I cheated and opened up a pudding pack and let her go to town! She had a blast!

My little water baby loves all things water, in all forms! She likes being in a big pool, little pool, water table, and really loves the sprinkler!

She wants to go outside ALL the time...

and doesn't want to come inside for anything.

Uh huh...she thinks anytime she is outside and around water, she can use the bathroom.

So what if I am a few weeks late - it's still July :-) I wanted to take Logan's pictures this year in this dress b/c this is the same dress she wore last year in her pictures - seems as if most of her stuff from last year still fits - just a little short :-)

We had a wonderful 4th! We celebrated with wonderful friends at their family cookout a few night before where Logan saw fireworks, or "firemans" as she called them! She liked watching them but didn't seem overly impressed - maybe next year!

On the 4th - we had a cookout at our house - it was so nice to have all of our family and friends together! Logan LOVES having the attention and loves all of her family. We are blessed to have so many people who love and care for us - family is wonderful.

We swam in her "water pool" a lot of the day and that evening she got to do sparklers for the first time! She didn't know what to think at first - but after a few of them and deciding it wasn't going to hurt her - she had fun with them!!

I have pictures coming of our fourth - we had a wonderful time and hope everyone enjoyed their holiday as well!

This girl just happens to be a regular ole' comedian! She has a crazy sense of humor, and is just hysterical when she gets on a roll!!

This is one of her latest tricks - she talks and sings out of the corner of her mouth. The picture does not do this justice, it is so funny! I can't help but laugh each time she does this!! It is so cute and she mostly sings like this. I have no idea why she does this, but we think it's cute.....sometimes :-)

This is her serious look - she sure gives off quite the look!! She will do this on command (feel like I'm talking about a dog - haha!) and she knows its funny when she does it!!

Oh.....Mr. Armpit! She is fascinated with her armpits! She is very ticklish! Sometimes she takes the handle off her kitchen sink and will be "washing her pits..." Sounds kind of gross typed out...but it's really funny when she does it!

She is a mess....and a half.

And I love this little mess and her "roar" bunches.

Some exciting (a little late) news:

We moved! We closed on a new house on May 25th and spent our first night in the new house on June 10. We did a lot of work in the house - and now it is just perfect for our little family :-) We are very excited, but we are all still getting used to our new house!

Logan is sleeping in a big girl bed (pics coming soon). A real, live big girl bed. Sad :-(

Her crib converted into a full size bed and it is just beautiful. We spent a day last week picking out new bedding and a mattress for this big girl, it all came together beautifully. Not only does it look adorable, Logan loves it! We welcomed the changed for a few reasons, but the main reason being; this girl doesn't fit into a toddler bed too well.....and its not all that comfy while laying in the toddler bed for two hours trying to get a little one to sleep :-) Now that we are in a big bed, it is taking much less time for her to go to sleep, and is much more comfy for me :-) We have replaced the rocking chair (sad....again) with me laying with her and rubbing her back, singing to her, etc...I do realize at some point she will not need me to help her to sleep, but right now, she does - and I'm perfect with that. She will probably have to kick me out of her bed, hopefully not for a long time :-) She spent her first night in the big bed on June 29th.

Little miss is growing up and changing a bit too quickly! I wish I could freeze this age just for a little while. She is into everything, and yet - just so much fun right now. She comes up with new "sayings" that I think are just too funny not to write down somewhere! Here are a few recent things she has been saying...

"Mommy its too dark, I can hardly see my skin!"

"I'm not sleepy, only my eyes are..."

"I don't hardly know that one..." (about a song that she knows perfectly well, and didn't want to sing!)

"We're buddies!"

And her first bed-time prayer said all by herself:

"Dear Lord, Thank you for this day and Mommy, Daddy, and precious baby Logan. In Jesus name we pray, Amen"

She is such a sweet girl with a huge heart, so thankful for her!

Here is a little bit of everything from the last few months :-) I will do a few post like this until I get back to regular blogging!

My girl LOVES getting a pedicure! She asks to go all the time and is quick to tell me when she needs her toenails painted! She sits soo still while they do it. She brags on her toes for a few days after :-)

We had a first "real" boo-boo back a few months ago. O, what a little ham she is! When she fell, she thought about crying and making a big fuss, but then once I showed her the boo-boo on her knee, was so in love with her new boo-boo that pain took a back seat. She now thinks she should have a boo-boo on her at all times. The other day a spot (boo-boo) on her leg was going away (much to her dismay) and she told me she needed a new one - ok honey.

Logan started gymnastic early in February and finished out the year a few weeks ago. She loves gymnastics and you can often times find us playing gymnastics at home! She got a trophy and a metal on her last day, a she sure was proud. Im so proud of her and I was so proud that a lot of her family and friends were able to come see her perform!

This is one of the most recent pictures of Logan, but not one of my favorites - you know, because she is interested in anything BUT having her picture made these days. I do like this picture b/c the whole point of this little session was to show her growth :-) I took pictures of Logan in this exact dress and chair the exact time last year :-) I am hoping the dress doesn't still fit next year!!

Our little girl is growing up much to fast and if I could pause time right now, I think I would. She is so much fun. Some days are challenging, but overall - this time in her life is wonderful.

My girl didn't just have her first egg hunt this year - she had her first 3! What is it about these kiddos and picking up so quickly about "what to do..." with these eggs, this basket, etc...It took Logan NO time to figure out that these little plastic eggs had treats in them and she had to find them and put them in her bucket...crazy. She did the same at Halloween - after the first house, she had "trick-or-treat" down pat! Here she is with her Daddy and her very first Easter egg hunt (first b/c we didn't do one last year..whoops!) pondering just what to do! The second she is wearing her Easter dress! She looked so beautiful! The rest of my Easter pictures are on my memory card.....yep. They will come too at some point :-)

Hard to believe - Logan is officially 2 now! She acts so big! She is thrilled to be two and loves to be asked how old she is! I have to write down everything she is doing, so bear with me (and skip to pics if you want!) while I brag on my child for a minute!

At Logan's 2 year well visit, she weighed 20lbs 9oz, and was 30.5inches tall. Yep, she is a peanut! We were just thrilled she reached 20lbs at two! Logan is not a picky eater, she just doesn't eat that much, and what she does eat, she burns off pretty quickly I would imagine! She is a busy, busy little girl.

She is pretty good (sometimes) at playing independently and loves to "cook" and go "grocery shopping!" Actually, she loves any kind of shopping and tells me when she thinks something looks cute. O my! She has a little kitchen and a buggy and most of the time during the day she can be found cooking or shopping. On nice days (loving the spring weather we have been having!) she stands at the window at 8AM and sings for Mr. Sun to come out! Logan is an outside kind of girl and would be out all day if she could! Speaking of singing, I see our future American Idol with Logan!!! Well, maybe not AI, but seriously, she can carry a tune - unlike her mother. She LOVES to sing and to be sung too. She knows MANY songs and usually is singing (very loudly) while playing.

She is walking very well and runs pretty well too. I wouldn't call it running necessarily, but she can get around pretty quickly. She walks with such attitude and just wiggles all around! She is so prissy! She is everything I ever imagined (and more!) she would be! She is a little girl who loves to look "pretty" and is obsessed with jewlery, make-up, baby dolls, etc...but she also can get dirty and play hard! She loves dirt and tractors, and doesn't mind getting dirty one little bit!

She really is quite demanding, and beging barking orders the minute her little feet hit the floor in the morning! She is slowly learning that (believe it or not!!) we run this house, not her!
We love her more than we could ever imagine and are so proud of our little 2 year old!

O how I cannot believe this little one is turning two next week, amazing. She has grown into such a wonderful little girl, I could not be any more proud. We celebrated her birthday this weekend and had a great little party yesterday. I really wanted something for her party that represented her "right now." I didn't want to do something generic just because, so after thinking about it - her favorite thing right now is the book, "Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?" by Eric Carle - she actually loves all of his books, this one is tops right now though! So I decided to do a brown bear theme for her party!! I loved how it turned out!! Here are just a few pictures (I have not finished putting all of them on my computer yet). Logan was sooo happy and had such a great time...!

So....we are still here and kickin' - just have an ole' neglected blog. Not my intentions, just by the end of the day, exhaustion sets in and blogging no longer seems like a good idea when you are not so sure of what you might say :-) At any rate - here is an update on everything....us.

The main reason blogging has taking a step back is because I am learning that attempting to run your own business can be rather time consuming! I have learned that I am not super-woman and I cannot work, run the house, keep a happy child, etc... - all while blogging about rainbows and butterflies - when really I am ready to pull my hair-out! In case you didn't know, (some of my bloggy friends have found me!! Thanks!) my love for all things photography has turned into this: http://www.victorialee-photography.com/. Me=excited!! I love, love what I am doing and now that things are in order with my little business, I am finally feeling a bit normal again!! Like I said, I love what I am doing - I love that I still get to be home with my little love, but I am also doing something for myself that I love. Ok - enough of that - so if you are wondering where I have been lately - check out the link above and you will see where I have been!!! Moving on....

Logan is doing FANTASTIC!!!! We have not been to the doctor but ONE time since her last well visit - thats 6 months people, 6 months without taking this child to ANY doctor. amazing. We have truly been blessed. I would love to say she is growing like a weed (haha) but she really isn't!! She is growing everywhere except size! I know she is getting taller because her pants are all way too short, but not so sure about the weight thing - o well. She is happy, and to me - thats all that matters.

She goes from the time she gets up - to the time she closes her eyes at night - most days she is still giving me about a 2 hour nap - whew! She is a busy little girl. She talks all day, non-stop. Sometimes we tease and say she must go to bed with a sore throat because her mouth has run all day!!!

She is building a rather large playlist of songs - most of which she knows ALL the words too - her current favorite is Amazing Grace - yep, thats right - makes this heart swell I tell ya.

Potty training - o yea. We are on day 6 of big girl panties. Actually, they are tiny and still fall off - but they are panties and not a diaper! She has an accident now and then, but usually goes the whole day (except naps/bed) accident free! I am not quite sure she is ready b/c she has yet to tell me when she has to go, she just goes when I tell her too - any advice? Keep it up or wait until she knows when she has to go?

Logan will soon be 2...unreal. It is bittersweet in so many ways. I love the little girl she is turning into, but my baby is slowly not a baby anymore. We will be having a birthday party for her in a few weeks and her theme is none other than, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" simply because that is her favorite in life right now. I wanted to do something that meant something to her, not just something generic - so Brown Bear it is!!! Can't wait to share pics with all of you!!

So...Logan has said (and done) some crazy things lately, and I know if I do not write them down I will never remember them!!

I told her the other day that I needed to wipe her face before we went into a public place...she promptly replied..."No Mommy, no wipe face, its a booger face, special!"

Umm....ok....yes honey, your boogers are special!

Logan is in love with money (that's my girl!) and she asks for coins all the time. I gave her some money the other day and she says, "thanks Mom, preciate (appreciate) it."

Cody and I took her out to breakfast the other day. When we asked her where she would like to eat, she replied with, "Waffle Home."

Logan knows all the words to several songs, this just blows my mind. I have always sung to her, but I never dreamed she would pick up on the words and tune at the age of 1. She knows all the words to: Jesus Loves Me (the first 2 verses), Jesus Loves the Little Children, You are my Sunshine, Skinnamarink, Do Lord, I Like to Go to Church, and Deep and Wide.

She insist on doing everything herself these days, so when you attempt to help her do anything, she tells you..."No Mommy, Logan do it!"

Poor little thing has the words "you" and "me" all mixed up - several times ~~an hour~~ a day, you will hear, "Mama hold you." Or when I tell her I am going somewhere, she responds with "ME!" She wants to go with me! So cute!

She loves to look at pictures and it doesn't seem like she can quite figure out why we (her family) is on a sheet of paper. When she has a picture of herself or sees herself in a mirror, if you ask her who it is she says it is a picture of baby Logan! She carries around pictures of baby Logan all the time, were just not sure she understands that it is her!

She is a mess and even though I never thought we could love her anymore, we love her more and more each day!

Cody and I got Logan a sock monkey for Christmas - we thought she would like it because she loves most stuffed animals and dolls! She likes her little monkey so when I saw this hat, I had to have it! The lady made it to match Logans monkey and it came out perfect! Logan asks to wear her hat all the time and it just looks adorable on her!!!

She can press the gas but has a hard time steering, so it makes for quite a workout chasing her around making sure she doesn't run into stuff! When you have parents that are like children themselves, you get presents early! We have had gifts sitting in our house long enough, we couldn't stand it anymore, so we "let" Logan open one of her gifts - haha! When we were trying to decide what to get her for Christmas, I came across this thing online that I thought would be perfect for her! Only problem - its HUGE! The kids on the picture must be about ten years old because it looks like it fits them so well! My (almost) 2 year old that doesn't even weigh 20 pounds doesn't clear the top of it!!!!! Even though she is a little small for it - she LOVES it!!!! I have a ton of pictures, but here are a few just for tonight!

She hardly ever wants to get out and tonight when we told her it was time to get out she asked for a pillow and blanket - haha! She wasn't really asleep, silly girl!

I have decided that if I don't start blogging again, I will never remember all of the cute little things Logan does that I never want to forget. Sometimes it seems like ours days are so long, and we do the same things over and over again, but it is those same things that we do over and over again that I never want to forget. One of my favorite times with Logan is putting her to sleep. I have always rocked her to sleep, and I will continue to rock her until she tells me she doesn't want to be rocked - she will not always be little and I treasure this time.

Every nap and before bedtime Logan lays in my lap and we have her "stuff." I laugh when I type that because when we even walk into her room she starts asking for her stuff. Her "stuff" consists of: 3-4 blankets, 2 loveys, a washcloth, (literally, a washcloth that has Elmo on it, she calls it Elmo's World, and she has to sleep with it) her bear (sometimes) and most times she has to throw a towel in the mix. She lays down on me and I cover her up with ALL of her stuff, then as she drifts off to sleep in my arms, I slowly remove the stuff until we are down to one blanket that she is allowed in her crib, the two loveys and the washcloth. Believe me, she knows if one of those things is missing! When we get her out of her crib, these things have to come out too - silly girl.

She doesn't just drift off to sleep so easily, I rock and sing to her. Lately she has become a little picky with my singing - lol. Here are the list of songs we currently go through each nap and bedtime: Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children, Deep and Wide, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, Chuggington (theme song...), Do Lord, Skinnamarink, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Usually I will sing the first line or two of a song, and she stops me and says.."No Mommy, tickle tickle..." She says tickle for twinkle - haha. She stops me about 5 times before the last time I tell her I'm singing the whole song -and that is the song I sing over and over and over again until she falls asleep!! Did you know that those songs don't really have that many words to them?!!?

Even though there are times when I wish I could just lay her in her bed and she would drift off to sleep on her own, I absolutely dread the day she doesn't want or need to be rocked to sleep. I love it when she falls asleep on me and I get to just sit and look at her. She won't be little forever, and its not like she is going to have to be rocked to sleep forever, so for now...I will enjoy rocking my little love and all of her stuff...

So here I am finding myself playing catch-up again! O well, I have a lot to blog about, just no time to do it. We have had a busy couple of weeks trying to get ready for Christmas. We put our tree up (first real tree!) the weekend after Thanksgiving, Logan LOVES it! She comes down the steps each moring saying, "our tree, pretty, lights on.." She loves it. She touches the ornaments, but does good (for the most part) about pulling them off. There are a few wrapped gifts under the tree, thankfully she hasn't been into those!

We took her to see Santa because we found out he was just right across the street and we were already going to be out - Well....it was a disaster. I officially have "the" screaming Santa picture...

Not only did she scream, she was fighting - haha! She loves the idea of Santa, she even walks around saying,
"Santa Clause, Ho Ho Ho!" but when it came to sitting with him, she wanted no part in it! Maybe next year, or we have try again this year, well see!

We said we were just going to get a few things for Logan this Christmas, that hasn't really worked out! She ended up with three big things, and just a few little things, which is ok. We are almost done with Christmas shopping, we only have a little more to get! I love Christmas shopping and it was sooo nice to get it done early this year. I love shopping, but not a big fan of the crowds, especially having Logan with me! She was a big helper and enjoyed shopping for everybody!

We hope everyone has had a great December so far!

Those are two of our favorite pictures from our recent photoshoot with MckMama. We went down and had plans of getting our pictures taken and then going to the zoo - it was so cold, we were doing good to last through our 30 minute session! Needless to say, we skipped the zoo and went and ate - haha! We will have to try for the zoo when it gets a little warmer!

Sorry it has been a while - 2 weeks since I blogged last? Whoops...I wont let it happen again. Well, I might. :-) Logan is SO into everything - time seems to escape me. By the time the evenings roll around, I am exhausted from the day and blogging seems last on the list, even though I miss it.

Logan walks everywhere and I cannot keep up with her vocabulary. It is huge and she remembers everything. She talks all day and has started putting words together; her favorite, "Mommy more cookie please..." She gets the cookies down pat. She has been getting cookies because she has been using the potty like a big girl!! She uses the potty 2-3 times a day. I am not sure she knows when she has to go yet, but she goes when I put her on the potty. I am thrilled with this new stage and hope it sticks!!

She is so expressive and has soooo many faces, most of them silly. She is a character!

We are considering putting Logan in a Moms Morning Out program starting the new year. It is one day a week for three hours. I think she would enjoy being around other kids and it would be a break for the both of us. Logan's separation anxiety is not going away. I thought it was supposed to be just a stage?!!?? This stage for her has lasted quite some time. Sunday School isn't going well, neither is bed time, etc. She does not like for me to be out of her sight. I am not really looking forward to "school," (if we do it) but I think it would benefit us both.

We went to the doctor for a cold the other day - she weighs 19lbs!! She is my little peanut! I still take tons of pictures of her - lets just say she has a rather large scrapbook! Well - it is a digital one, but it's many pages! I wish I had time to actually scrapbook.

Her favorite food is spaghetti, or in her words, "depity." When you ask her what is in her tummy, she promptly lifts her shirt points to her belly and says, "depity!" It is her favorite and the only thing she eats a substantial amount of. I started giving her chocolate milk, it seems to be another favorite!

trick or treat

Little Elmo went trick or treating on Halloween night! We had our family and a few friends over to watch her trick or treat. When we put on her outfit and she had her "grand appearance," she was so thrilled with herself. She kept going into the bathroom and coming out again for her grand re-appearance - lol! We had quite a few participants in our neighborhood but we didn't stop at them all. She was so excited and seemed to understand the concept the more we went. We would carry her bucket until we walked up a driveway and she had to carry her own bucket! She carried it on her arm like a purse - silly girl! When we got home, she poured all of her candy out and examined it all. It was a great night and she had so much fun!!

First haircut....

it went great!

I really didn't want to cut her hair...at all.

But - it needed it. The back was getting a little nest like.

The front of Logans hair is straight, but the back is curly -

she was beginning to look like we never brushed her hair,

so we decided it was time!

it was painless

and Logan didn't move a muscle - even though she hates for me to touch her hair,

she sat like an angel the entire time and let Ms. Nicole cut her hair.

She just took enough off to shape it up some, you can't even tell it's been cut

but it looks soo much better!

We have had a busy few weeks...as usual. Unfortunately - Cody's grandfather, Pop passed away last Friday. Although we will miss him terribly, we can say with certainty that he is in a better place. Please keep my husband's family in your prayers.

In other, more exciting news, Logan is walking everywhere!! She is into everything, all the time. She has pretty much decided that she thinks she is nocturnal, and she doesn't need to eat. I think she is cutting teeth, or at least I am hoping that is all that is up with her newest phase. She is such a joy to be around, she just has personality plus.

We are loving the Fall weather here - and love being outside! I have so much to blog about lately - just not much time, so hopefully I will find some time and share with everyone what we have been up too!

Hello Blogger!!! It has been a while, I'm sorry. Life called, and we have been busy, busy, busy. Logan is doing fantastic, getting quite verbal and more and more mobile! She is pretty much the smallest little walker I have ever seen! She is usually steady on her feet and has only taken a few spills, nothing to bad...yet. She is pretty much into everything, all the time :-) I will give you a few updates on all things Logan lately...

At her 18 month appt, she weighed 18.2 lbs - yep, tiny. Due to her low weight (I should say, consistently low weight), she was labeled "failure to thrive." She has been in the negative percentiles the last few visits. At this visit, they drew blood to test her for a metabolic disorder. The pediatrician had contacted me previously and shared her concern, so we knew it was coming. They wanted to rule it out, so they could feel comfortable saying she was "just small." Failure to Thrive is simply a phrase found in medical books, it has nothing to do with her cognitive ability, just physical. It sounds worse than it is, honestly. We got the test results back recently - guess what....she's just small!!!! All of her bloodwork came back within normal range (a few were off, but nothing alarming). We were certainly relieved - and can feel good about her size, knowing nothing is causing her to be so small.

She is finishing up with physical therapy - that is because she is meeting appropriate milestones now! She is actually still "behind" but that is because by the charts they consider walkers at 12 months - well, if you don't walk until 18 months - you sort of have to be put on your own schedule. Her therapist feels like she will do great catching up. I am not sure how many visits we will have left, but she said today she felt great about Logan's progress. We go on Thursday to have her evaluated (per therapist) to see if Logan would benefit from braces on her legs, or possibly inserts in her shoes. Logan displays several different problems in her gate, none of which are consistant; but consistantly, there seems to always be a different gate pattern, none of which are technically correct. These gate issues are caused from weakness in her hips, knees, shins, and ankles. We also knew this was coming - no surprise. We have been told since birth the issues she would probably have (if any) would be with her walking. If the worse she has is braces - we can handle that :-) There is also the possibility he may say she needs nothing, who knows!

The weather here has been fantastic! However, we seemed to have gone from summer right to winter. It has actually been cold, not just cool! Once again, we have a busy week ahead, but I will be doing better about updating my blog, I miss it, and I miss everyone!

our beach trip...

We had a wonderful time on our little get away - we couldn't have asked for better weather or location, it was beautiful. We decided to go the day before we left - not ideal for the planning type that I am, whew - but we made it out of the door with everything we needed and on the road we went! The road trip wasn't fantastic, Logan is not exactly a lover of the car. So much so, we stopped half way and broke down and purchased a dvd player for the car, desperate. It helped a little, but we were sure excited to arrive and get out of the car!!! Logan absolutely loved the beach - she was all smiles the minute her feet hit the sand.

We went to the beach and played in the water most of the time! She loved walking on the sand, it was pretty hard so thankfully it was easy for her to walk on. She walked and walked and occasionally would bolt for the water! We found 26 sand dollars on our beach walks.

We planned on leaving at a certain time, hoping for a nap in the car; you know, things never work out the way you plan. Logan was up at 5 in the morning while we were gone, I was able to buy us until 7 by putting her in the bed with us. The morning we left was no different, she was ready to go to the beach the minute she got up. Hum...not with our plan. Anyway, we ended up going to the beach early, the goal was to let her play and get sleepy. After about 30 minutes, we were swinging her, "hopping" the waves, and next thing you know....pop. Yea, the pop was a noise Cody heard and felt as we were swinging her. This little noise and screaming fit landed us checking out earlier than expected and in the local urgent care. A few x-rays later, we were on our way with a diagnosis of a sprain - she should feel better shortly. On the way home, we noticed she wouldn't move her arm...at all. So, we stopped at a pediatric urgent care where they said her elbow was slightly dislocated, and they popped it back into place. It was simple, and she started moving it almost immediately. Apparently, it is a common injury in kids, but of course, it happened to us while out of town!!!! Her little arm is all better, and we are home safe and sound - happy to be sleeping in our own beds! Isn't it funny how wonderful you feel to get away for a few days, but you feel the same excitement to come home! Our beach trip was a success and we are already looking forward to next year!

18 Months

O my, where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I was holding Logan while she slept curled up so small on my chest. At 18 months old, I couldn't be any more proud of this little girl. Here are the things she is doing at 18 months!

*Logan only likes to sleep in her crib and sleeps all night long (11-12 hours) most nights. The only time she is up at night is if she doesn't feel well. She takes one nap at day, usually from 1:30-3:30, give or take a few. She sleeps with a "lovey," it is adorable. If we go in her room and it's not there, she calls it, "looooovvvv....eeeee!" She calls it with much authority - haha.

*She still eats (for the most part) a wide variety of foods. She still loves the pouches of fruit/vegetables (by the way...Target now sells them!! But they are expensive there), she still eats some pureed foods (she likes them and it's extra calories), but mostly she is a big meat and bread eater! She loves most all meat!

*She has 5 teeth (3 top, 2 bottom) but is working on cutting another bottom one. She lets me brush her teeth every night!

*Logan wears 6-12 month clothing - it depends on the brand. Carter's brand, a 6 (sometimes 9) fits her great still, but she is wearing the size 6-12 in brand Baby Gap. Yep, she is still small :-) She wears a size 3 shoe.

*Logan IS walking! She started walking on Friday, September 10. Logan has been walking for several months, as long as she was holding your hand. We knew she was able to do it, it was just a matter of time. At her therapy session (I am guessing a different environment, different toys, different person, etc...) she let go and started walking! She has been doing it off and on (mostly on) since then. It makes my heart swell when I see her stand up and take off!

*Logan's vocabulary is rather large, she will repeat anything, but some of the words she knows without being prompted are: Mommy, Daddy, Bobby, Nana, Pa, Papa, Mimi, Nanny, Ted, Bonnie, Jack, Izzy, ball, juice, milk, more, tractor, fish, oatmeal, diaper, bath, no, bed, baby, walk, chair, Elmo. Logan knows many more, I will probably keep adding to this list as I remember more! She says her words very clear and accurate - she has a very cute voice!

*Logan can identify all facial features; eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, hair, and chin. She also makes these noises: cow, horse, sheep, dog, owl, monkey, bear, tiger, snake, firetruck, tractor.

She is getting so big, not necessarily physically big, but she is becoming more mature and her little personality continues to emerge. She is a joy to be around and has a crazy, silly sense of humor! Sometimes I think she is going to be class clown, and others I think she is going to be the observer. Either way, we love her to pieces and can't believe she is 18 months old!

Seriously....He feeds her, he holds her sippy cup for her, he holds her hand, he makes her laugh....

I think it is safe to say they like each other :-) They play very well together and have similar personalities.

They both can be very serious and shy, or very silly and outgoing! It is so nice having friends (moms too!) to be able to play with, we certainly enjoy their friendship!

my heart smiles when I see this...

We went to the park this morning and had a wonderful time with friends. I thought it would be a typical park experience where she mostly stays by me and I help her do things so she can have a good time, but not this morning. This morning I saw my little love have confidence in herself as she tried new things. She went up the stairs the big girl way, not on her hands and knees; she stepped down onto a bouncing bridge, and loved every minute of it; she went down the slide by herself and she enjoyed playing with her friend. These are things Logan has always wanted to do, but wouldn't/couldn't. But today, she did.

I have many more stories/pictures about the park and her friends and just everyday happenings around here, but for now....I am basking in her smile.

She amazes me.

cream puffs & Pa...

This morning we met friends at the park, the weather in the morning has been nice, but it sure does get hot quick. The kids didn't seem to mind, they played pretty good. I'm a slacker - I have no pictures.

After we left the park, we stopped by the grocery store to get stuff to make my dad a dessert. Yesterday was his birthday (happy birthday Daddy!), and we (we, as in my brother haha) cooked out at my brother's house. My dad is impossible to buy a gift for, literally. So, I thought I would make him a dessert - which he loves :-) My grandma (his mom) used to make the best little cream puffs, they were wonderful, so I thought I would try to make some. I didn't use her recipe (next time!), but they turned out really well! I was so pleased, now I will be in charge of making the cream puffs!

Logan sure enjoyed the cream part of the cream puff! She ate a ton of it - we are on operation gain weight (more on that later) and she kept handing me her spoon and signing "more, more!"

We finally got to spend a little bit of time outside today! It was not as hot as it has been being, and Logan was fussy, so we opened a pack of sidewalk chalk and headed out! She is such a little turkey; she discovered throwing forward today - she has been able to toss things behind her, but today she discovered that it worked the opposite way too, o dear! She kept throwing the chalk in my lap and laughing. Ha Ha.

Seems like I have neglected my blog again....whoops. I am going to try and do better - I love looking back and pictures and stories on my blog and having those memories written down somewhere, but last week was pretty busy. Every time I would sit down to blog, something would happen or I was just simply too tired. Logan started with a stomach bug last Tuesday - it landed us at the pediatrician last Thursday and Friday, and in the ER Friday night. Sparing the details, she was feeling a bit better today and tonight seemed a little more like herself. She (so far...) has kept down a biscuit, and a pack of banana/rice today. This is great since nothing has been on her stomach since last Tuesday....thank you, Zofran. I am looking for a better day tomorrow - I hate seeing her sick.

Saturday we had company come into town, they are dear relatives who I love to pieces and wish we could spend more time with each other. Between trying to keep Logan well and having company, we were busy.

I cannot wait for cooler weather here - it has been sooooo hot. It has been too hot to spend much time outside. I am looking forward to Fall and being able to spend more time with Logan outside. I see many park trips in our future!

I have missed blogging, and keeping up with my bloggy friends - I am off to play catch-up!

Happy Birthday ~~yesterday~~ Cody! Yesterday was Cody's birthday! Logan rode with Cody the other day working on a "tractor" and she has said since, "Daddy, tractor, vroom, vroom!!" She loves her Daddy!

Logan wished him a happy birthday - we practiced all day the day before saying it, and she sort of said it to him - it was cute! She gave him a card and he didn't open it right away, she didn't care for that. She put the card back in his face, telling him to open it! We gave him one of these pictures in a frame for his birthday!

We love him very much and hope he had a great day!

For those of you with weak stomachs, don't proceed reading...or scroll down to see "cute" pictures, they are not cute pictures today. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Well, it happened. Logan did what every (well, most every) child does at some point. A little background: She discovered taking her diaper off recently. One day I went to get up up from her nap, and she had a lovey in one hand, and her diaper in the other. I didn't think a lot of it. A couple of days later, she kept trying to get it off in the morning, I told her no, etc...Again, I didn't think too much of it.

That afternoon I heard her wake up from her nap. But after a second, it was silent. I assumed she had fallen back asleep as she often does. Silly, silly me. About twenty minutes later, I hear with a very faint, shaky voice, "Mommy." I started up the steps to get her and by the time I got in her room, she was all out crying. Then, I saw....

My first reaction was...."O My Gosh!! Is this what I really think it is?!?!" Then...I looked at my

beautiful daughter. My beautiful daughter not only took her diaper off and distributed the poop nicely all over her bed and floor, she decided it would look good on her face and body as well. Yes, yes, a little make-up artist I have on my hands. I didn't catch any pictures of her because by the time I came around to thinking it was funny (and grabbing my camera), she was already sitting in the bath tub (after I cleaned it off of her face, and mouth. Did I say mouth? Yep, I did. She thought she would taste it as well). She knew what she had done and the look on her face was priceless.

She is a mess, and I had quite the mess to clean up!

Like I said, at first I wasn't too pleased with her, but after a few minutes, it was pretty funny. I called Cody right away and told him, he didn't say much. After I got over the shock and realized it was a little funny, I called him back and he said, "I couldn't really talk because I wanted to laugh!"

Ha Ha....sort of.

Lesson learned, don't put her to bed with just a diaper on!

Yep, she was in the dryer.

Every morning when I do laundry, she always helps. She stands at the dryer and puts the wet clothes inside. Every morning, I watch her raise her leg and try to get in. She is never successful; partly because I am always watching, and because shes just not that tall! However, this particular morning she thought I was no where to be found and she could really try to get in. She did. It was pretty funny to watch, and she was quite creative in her efforts to get in. Once she realized I was standing about three foot away, she just started laughing!!

She was so content in the dryer! She had her juice and a stuffed animal that she managed to get in there with her! She cried when I took her out!!

She is such a mess!!

She seems to be feeling a bit better, but coughing kept her up last night. Hopefully she will continue to feel better over the next couple of days!

On a more important note - she is still sick. She slept better last night than the night before, but not great.

However, she woke up with a cough - ick! She is just so congested - I hate it for her. Even more so, I hate that I cannot do more for her. We are suctioning her often, which she loves,...........not. Even being sick, she still had a pretty good morning and managed to get into everything, literally.

My poor little darlin' doesn't feel good today. She didn't sleep much last night and was crying most of the night. I took her in to the doctor this morning - her ears look perfect, her throat was great, and we left the doctor with the, "it's a cold," answer. Which I am glad it is nothing worse, but at the same time, if it had been something we could treat, things would be a bit easier. She didn't nap much this afternoon because she gets all stuffed up when she is flat. Elevating her bed does no good because she is a fish, and ends up the wrong way - so we basically are hurting her by doing that. So we loaded her up with Tylenol/Motrin during the day (she has fever) and before bed. I pray she sleeps good tonight, she is so exhausted.

This morning we went to the park with some friends - Julie and her two adorable little boys. Her oldest is a bit older than Logan, but they actually did really well together. It is so fun to watch Logan interact with other kids. Today, she was so serious most of the time, I think it was because she was just taking it all in.

It has been soooo hot here, we haven't been getting outside as much as we usually do. Today we just decided to get over the heat, and let the kids enjoy outside! They loved it! And it actually wasn't that bad, we found a shady spot under a tree, and enjoyed a nice breeze most of the time!

I try and do these post around a "milestone month," you know, like when you go to the doctor and stuff. But we have had a few changes lately, and she deserves a post all about her, now!

I have no idea what she weighs, just that she is still small. Hopefully this will continue to not be a problem, and she will continue to be "just small" as her doctor put it last time we visited. She is totally off bottles/formula and has been for over a month. I must admit, it has been very nice not washing bottles and pouring formula all the time - that stuff stinks, literally! She transitioned very well, she never even acted like she missed the bottles. We sort of stopped cold turkey, she never really knew. Since stopping bottles/formula, I have noticed a slight increase in the amount of table food she eats, which is great! Does she drink enough whole milk to make up for the "lost calories" of formula? No, not at all. She only drinks 2-3 oz. a day of milk. What can I say - I try. If it becomes a problem - well, we will cross that bridge if we come to it. For now, we are enjoying a normal 3 meals a day schedule, and it's great!

Logan still isn't walking. I am quite certain that she has the ability to walk, she is just scared. She is very sturdy on her feet, but she will not let go of your hand or walk any distance on her own. She has taken a few steps at different times, but nothing that she got really excited over and just wanted to do again! She will walk when she is ready, and I am fine with that. We always watch her use her right vs. left, etc, to see if she has a specific dominance. She walks better with you holding her left hand. When you hold her right, she side-steps but when you hold her left, she walks fairly normal (still throwing the right leg a bit). It all has to do with the weight shift over her feet. We see PT this week, so we will see if she has any insight. She still prefers to "W-sit," but will immediately fix her legs when we tell her too, so I am hoping it will become less of a habit over time.

She is still pretty consistent on the "Ba" words, but now she is expanding her vocabulary quite a bit. She will repeat anything we tell her to say (kind of fun!) and retains a lot of it. I am very pleased with her language development, and I feel confident that the speech therapist will also be pleased when Logan is evaluated again at 18 months. She is still signing, and we continue to keep introducing new signs to her.

We are down to one nap a day. We are still getting used to the new schedule. Logan doesn't do change very well (neither does her mother) so it has been a little rough, but getting a lot better. She started giving me a really hard time going down in the mornings, but was still so exhausted if she didn't nap. It got to where it was taking me about an hour to get her to sleep (I still rock her). Finally, after a few weeks of pondering what to do, we just decided to stop putting her down in the mornings and move the afternoon nap up a bit. The first week of no morning naps, she was a booger and soooo ready for an afternoon nap. Recently, she has gotten used to staying up longer in the mornings, and is sleeping longer in the afternoons, it really has worked out good.

Are your retina's bleeding yet? Whew, that was a lot of updates!!! Overall, she is doing fantastic!!!!

Yep, I took a little bloggy break. I must admit, it was pretty nice. But I missed blogging, so, were back!

Why her hair is curly on one side and not the other, no idea.

I have been productive during my little bloggy break. I got closets cleaned and organized, bagged clothes to be donated, spent a great deal of time with little Logan, and just...enjoyed.

I have also been working on my photography blog. Yep, a blog to show some of my photography. This is a new venture for me, and I will not be linking the two blogs very often. I will keep my personal blog personal, and my photography blog, well, about photography. This little love is such a ham. Our bed is her favorite place to be. She loves just laying on the pillows and rolling all around on it! She was "helping" me with the clothes in these pictures, big helper. She likes to "jump" on the bed, even though she can't really jump, she thinks she can :-) She is such a silly girl!

I have an entire post of all things Logan coming soon, it has been a while and we have lots of changes!

When she was tugging on my legs,

(remember, separation anxiety is at our house and apparently touching my legs was

not good enough, we needed to be eye level with one another while I washed dishes)

I was left with no other choice!

I put her up there and she was happy as can be!

Apparently, once she was up there

some little monkey discovered a banana on the counter!

she wanted to EAT!

After we left the aquarium this past weekend, we decided we didn't want to give up on Logan having a good time, so we walked across the street to the Children's Museum. I knew she would be too little, but we wanted to try it and see what it was like. We are going to take her back once she starts walking, she will LOVE this place!!!

Daddy's favorite...

They had "moon sand," which was nice because it molded and was fun to touch, but didn't leave you with the grain of real sand. She wasn't huge on the moon sand, but didn't hate it either. She loved the block area, and it was nice because she could crawl around. She loved the "connect" things - she of course didn't understand how to use them properly, but she enjoyed throwing them :-) They had a water area that she was too short to reach, but she still liked it. They had a small area for babies/toddlers and she enjoyed that area.

We are sure when we go back, there will be no keeping up with her. She was intrigued by everything there, and wanted it ALL. We had a fun day with our girl and we look forward to doing it again, soon!

Fa Fa = fish.

Yesterday we went downtown to take Logan to the aquarium!!!

She loves fish, so we thought she would especially enjoy the aquarium.

She even sported her fish shirt!

She would have had a blast, but it was so crowded,

and much to her dislike,

she was not the only person there

to enjoy the fish.

Getting decent pictures was impossible -

there were just too many people.

No flash allowed, but I busted out

my pop-up a few times...

shhhh.....don't tell :-)

We plan on going back when school is in.

Logan would have liked it if she could have

stood in one spot and just looked and played at the glass the whole time.

We missed a few of the exhibits -

she wasn't a huge fan of being held, or the stroller.

at a snails pace, just doesn't mix with a fast moving crowd.

After we left (pretty rapidly...) the aquarium, we walked across the street

to another fun place!

Overall, we had a very fun day and we are anxious to take Logan

back to the aquarium when she is a little bit older and it will be

less crowded!

Logan has hit another big milestone!

It is something she has been working very hard on for several months.

Her therapist is very pleased at her recent progress...

ALL by herself!

Now, she didn't get that way on her own, but that too will come!

The point is - she DID it!

Actually, she stood that day for probably 2 minutes.

She wasn't happy about it, but she did it.

Since then, she will stand more independently for longer amounts of time,

but she knows instantly when you let go!

She is getting so big, so fast.

I really don't care at what age she walks, jumps, hops...

as long as she is healthy and happy

and

I hope she always knows how proud of her I am.

It's official....separation anxiety has officially hit our house. And we have a bad case of it. Mommy-itis would be the diagnosis I suppose. Don't get me wrong, hearing Mama is a beautiful sound, but I have been hearing it about 5,697 times a day, and that's only a slight exaggeration. She calls me very loud and with great authority. It is sweet as can be, but in all honestly, sometimes my sanity is at stake. Going to the bathroom alone is rare, and showering, haha; she opens the glass door (cold!) and cries mama until I am finished. Even though sometimes it gets on my nerves, I truly am grateful to be able to be called mama.

This mama has clothes to be washing, clothes to be drying, clothes to be folded, and some to be put away...I think I better get to doing my laundry!

Every morning a few minutes after Logan get up, she is ready for breakfast. I usually put her in her chair and give her a few cheerios while I prepare her breakfast. Patience isn't really her thing, so I have to give her something while she waits! This morning, I put the cheerios down, she starting having a come apart - she wanted the cheerios put back IN the box, so she could reach her hand in and get them herself....seriously.

Logan's vocabulary is really starting to take-off! She repeats just about everything, and knows several words and what they mean. Along with a handful of other words, these are her most common words/sounds...

I love this picture. It is my background on my computer (for now!). I love the way her hair curls perfectly at the ends, and I love how you can tell she is in deep thought, which is so her.

When I was pregnant, I could not imagine what Logan would look like; what color hair or eyes she would have, or what her personality would be like. We would sit and say, "O, I think she will have your nose, or she will be tall like you!"

We could have done that all day; but truth is,

she is who she is

and I love it that way...

This is not a typical black/white conversion for me, but I love it.

All American Girl

When you think July 4th, you think cookout - or at least I do! So this year Cody and I decided to have a cookout at our house and we enjoyed family and friends over last night! Surrounded by grandparents and great-grandparents, there was no lack of attention for little Logan. I think somebody was either holding her, walking her, or feeding her at all times! Needless to say, she was exhausted!

Logan got a new pool, complete with a sprayer - awesome! We set it up and her water table out back. She had a wonderful time outside and she enjoyed her dinner and dessert pretty well too! She was a big fan of watermelon, and YooHoo (homemade) ice cream!

We didn't make it to fireworks this year, Logan just never would have made it that late.

We had a wonderful 4th and hope ya'll did too!

As Logan's personality is beginning to emerge more and more...

I am falling in love with her more and more.

She has always been quite a serious baby,

not one to easily get a smile out of.

Usually when we try to get her to smile,

she looks at us like...

"they sure are acting silly..."

We have only actually heard her actually "belly laugh"

a handful of times.

She giggles and chuckles, but rarely ever laughs.

However, she has quite the sense of humor.

She knows when she is being silly,

and fake laughs when you tell her she is being funny!

An evening of swimming was in store for us last night.

Logan is a fish, she loves the water.

She swam,

got her head wet,

and even went under a few times!

her fingers wrinkle so fast...

After her swim,

well, it is a walker...

yep, we own a walker. I know...it's against the rules these days. However, we purchased this for Logan because we thought it was cute, and we didn't know any different. We quickly found out it is not a great item to have around, and Logan did not need to be using one (per her physical therapist). So, we put it away for many months. Recently we got it out, and she thinks its a great push toy! Look close, her baby is getting a ride - hey, at least somebody is sitting in it :-)

So - I decided to try and take some "father's day" pictures of Logan for Cody. When did I decide to do this- on Father's Day of course!!! I would never wait until the last minute to do something like that - ever. But, since I did, I rounded up some of Cody's tractors. He has a collection of tractors; some new, some old. I thought it would be cute to have her playing with a few of his tractors. The idea was great - but I'm sure you guessed - she wanted no part of it. I also tried another shot of her wearing one of his ties - nope, not having that either. Needless to say, none of these pictures were frame worthy, and I'm not happy with the conversions either! I hope to maybe try and redo this when she is older - I know it will be cute, I just know it will be!!

We have had a busy day - we went swimming again. The heat and water wears Logan out. She hasn't been napping very good, but I am guessing that's because she is cutting two teeth - they are almost in.

Sorry about the lack of blogging - Logan has been wearing me out everyday, so when bedtime comes - I go to bed. I usually blog, edit pictures, etc...at night after she goes to bed, but lately my pillow has been calling my name. I'm sure you all understand :-)
